Situated in the centre of the county, Chelmsford Young Farmers is proud to be one of the largest clubs with over 40 keen active members. Chelmsford Young Farmers are lucky to have a mixture of members, both boys and girls, from farming and non-farming backgrounds and with varying ages from 16 – 26 (plus a few trustee associates too!)
This mean that we enter every single competition despite the fact that not every sport is our forte- but Chelmsford Young Farmers take the approach that it’s the taking part that counts!! Recently Chelmsford Young Farmers enjoyed success in the public speaking competition where we came 1st, 3rd and 3rd a fantastic result so we are all very proud of all our members.
As a club we are well represented in everything Essex Young Farmers does, all committees, the annual pantomime, organising the Essex Young Farmers Show and even the Three Peaks Challenge last year! We are also a very sociable club annually hosting the first party of the year, organising grand harvest suppers and plenty of night outs and parties throughout the year. We are even prone to the odd group holiday!
Currently we are in training for the tug of war competition held at this years Essex Young Farmers Show, as the Chelmsford Young Farmers boys claimed the title two years ago and are itching to get it back! We also have two couples training for the Strictly Come Dancing competition in June- so there are lots of exciting events for you to get involved in!
We meet each Tuesday at 8pm in the lovely village of Writtle in the Rose and Crown pub, for a talk, social or interesting visit. Recent meetings have included a beekeeping talk, trip round a local brewery, games evening and quiz night. Chelmsford Young Farmers are approachable, fun, welcoming and always looking for a new friend so please come and join us this Tuesday.
James Benton and Emily French can’t wait to hear from you!!
